How long does it take before you see the first sports results ?

Most people join the gym with a specific goal in mind. For example, some want to lose weight, while others would like to build more muscle. We would prefer to get rid of our love handles today and have a size less tomorrow. But unfortunately it doesn't work that way. How long does it actually take before you start to see results from all your hard work in the gym?

How long does it take before you see the first sports results ?


How quickly you see results differs per person and has to do with various factors. This depends, for example, on the goal you have set for yourself and what your physical condition is at that moment. The first factor for seeing results is the goal you have in mind.

You always want to work towards something, so determining your goal helps you to get started in a focused way. Goals such as weight loss, fitness and muscle building differ from process and therefore need a slightly longer or shorter period to be achieved.

Would you like to lose weight? (And by losing weight we mean losing fat and not weight .) Then nutrition plays a crucial role. On the basis of a nutrition plan you can see approximately how many calories you are consuming. But don't just pay attention to calories, the most important thing is to get as many nutrients as possible with as little food as possible. So go for the so-called ' superfoods ', these are foods that are packed with good vitamins and minerals. These don't have to be expensive at all . 

Build muscle

Building muscle mass requires a lot of energy. The moment your body builds muscle, it will start to burn more fat, which helps nicely with the previous point. Here too it is important to let your body rest and recover in between. Your body needs about 2 to 3 days for this. There is a maximum muscle building per year , but this also depends on many factors, such as genetic predisposition, age, how long you have been training and how intensively you are doing it now.

In short, as a beginner you can build up to about 0.9-0.11 kilos of muscle tissue per month. For the more experienced athlete, that is between 0.5 and 0.9 kilos. Please note that these are maximum quantities. A small part of this is already quite an achievement! Don't be shocked if you're on the scale and suddenly the arrow shoots a lot further: muscle weighs more than fat . And in the beginning there is also a chance that your body will temporarily retain more fat.

Improve fitness

To improve your fitness, it is recommended to do fitness training at least twice a week. Rest and recovery are very important. It is best to maintain a varied workout schedule for this. This way you can go for a walk one day after an intensive run. For example in the park, where you can also do a very nice outdoor workout . This way you keep it varied, but you are still active!

So how long does it take to see results from training?

For all these goals it is important to exercise at least 2 times a week in order to notice results faster. Sports results are generally visible after about 2 months. If you've got tons of fat to burn,, it will probably take a little longer. In any case, you will already feel fitter and stronger during that time.

Keep in mind that every body is different. Some require more time and energy than others. The initial situation and type of workout also play a major role. Of course, this all affects the results and how quickly they are visible. And don't forget: entering the gym for the first time to train is also a result!
